Tourism Together ...   Today and Tomorrow!

Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman - We live and work here. We take pride in who we are and what we do. Tourism is not only our number one industry; it's everybody's business.

"Tourism Together" means each of us must understand the impact we have on the life blood of the Cayman Islands. It is more than just the people who work in the hotels and condominiums, tourist shops, dive operations, and watersports, etc. Although these people are directly linked to our tourism industry... tourism makes us all partners.

A great Caymanian experience is more than just a friendly smile. It involves the whole spectrum of life in the Cayman Islands - from preserving our culture, heritage and physical environment, to showing pride in our islands and, most of all, to sharing the warmth and hospitality of our people.

Success can be achieved with the support of every man, woman and child in the Cayman Islands. Tourism is the cornerstone to our quality of life. Together, we can build on that foundation... for today's generation, and for the future of our children and our Islands.

Tourism has undoubtedly been primarily responsible for the phenomenal rate of growth and development which occurred in the Cayman Islands over the last twenty years. Together with the Financial sector, tourism has provided the Cayman Islands with an enviable high per capita income (the highest in the Caribbean, and one of the highest in the world) and an equally high standard of living.

Tourism Together program However, while we remain justly proud of these achievements, it is imperative that we remain vigilant about maintaining the integrity of the Cayman Islands tourism product. To do this means harnessing the support of every Caymanian and everyone resident in the country, while at the same time ensuring the sustainability of the sector. Fundamental to achieving these dual goals is the understanding of the industry in both the national and regional context and a clear vision of the requirements / actions necessary for achieving such sustainability.

The dynamic nature of both the industry and the human face of the Cayman Islands dictates that our efforts must be ongoing. The time has long gone when it was enough simply to organize a Tourism Week or a Tourism Month. The efforts at achieving community tourism awareness. understanding and support must be on-going and must reach all sectors of the Caymanian society - the private sector (including those who make a living from tourism), the public sector, the political directorate, and the wider community.
